Thinking of Austin

My little nephew Austin was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis this morning and has been admitted to the hospital. He will have surgery this afternoon. Please send good thoughts and prayers (if you are so inclined) to my brother, Mike, Kristin and Austin. I can't imagine seeing my 5 week old go into surgery.

We just met Austin last weekend. Ellie liked him quite a bit!

Big Weekend

It's a big, crazy weekend for the Lords. Ellie and I are in Columbus for a quick trip to meet my nephew Austin, which means Kevin and Jack are having a boys' weekend in Sumter! It's lots of fun for all - girl bonding time and boy fun - but it's kind of hard on all of us. It's the longest I've been away from Jack since he was born.

Oh, in other news, I nearly lost my entire life (aka computer) the other night when the laptop died. It was not pretty. But, Kevin saved the day! He and a very helpful dude at work were able to save all my data and reformat the computer. I think he was secretly hoping it woudn't work so he could get (another) new Mac.

We hope to catch up this blog soon! Lots of great pictures and stories to share.

I'm Five Months Old Today

Unfortunately it has taken to the fifth month of our second child for me to do one of these posts, but I got a new computer and Kate is too busy these days working on our money making post, so I figured I would give it a shot.  Enjoy these photos from Baby Ellie's photo shoot.

Easter Egg Hunt and the Big Bunny

Okay, so I have about a million photos from our awesome weekend in Kiawah Island with Jenny, Jack and Luke. I'm working my way through them and will post the highlights (like Ellie and Luke being the cutest babies ever).

Sunday morning we went to an Easter Egg Hunt and met the Easter Bunny! Turns out Jack is still NOT a fan of giant dressed up characters. All day when anyone mentioned the Easter bunny, he said, "I cry" even though he totally didn't. He just insisted I hold him and refused to smile for photos. Ellie, on the other hand, was fascinated and starred at the giant bunny. See:
The Kiawah Island Easter Egg Hunt was awesome! They literally "hid" over 10,000 eggs (and then collected empty eggs at the end to recycle them). The hunt was divided into age groups and the Jacks (Lord and Felsen) were in the up to three year old section on the sand volleyball court.

I learned something new about my son during the hunt - he's very competitive. I had to hold him back until the hunt officially began and once he heard the word, "go" he took off running. I love this picture because you can see he is the only kid around. Apparently the other children were not as eager to get their hunt on. What's so ridiculous is that he ran past about a million eggs to the opposite side of the court to start grabbing eggs.
I have about a thousand pictures of Jack putting eggs in his basket, but they all look the same and are kind of boring.Showing off his full basket!I think this is his "Ha ha, suckers... I got all the good eggs!" face.My sweet boy in his Easter duds. (I know the tie is poorly tied, but it was the best we could do after literally trying for hours.)

Dubai International

It may look like Fremont St, and believe me in real life the airport
is as impressive as Vegas. But made it here safely and utilizing the
UAE's free wifi.

Ellie Went to the Dentist, Too

Lucky for her, Ellie does not yet have teeth for us to destroy, but she still made the trip to the dentist. She went with the mouth theme and gnawed on her hands the entire time like this:
I had to take her socks off because it was hot as heck in the office and she sweats like a beast. But, aren't her feet the cutest things you've ever seen?

First Trip to the Dentist

Jack had his first dentist appointment this morning at the interesting Kool Smiles of Sumter. He played on the slide and loved the dentist's office. Until he had to go to the back with the hygienist. I was kind of surprised that they took my little boy back all alone without his mommy. Luckily there was a one-way glass mirror window thing to peek through so I could watch Jack the whole time.
He got wheeled around in a car to and from the X-ray room. Jack totally caught me taking pictures through the small window on the door because I couldn't get any through the window I was supposed to be using. As Jack dutifully reported afterwards, he cried because the toothpaste was "Yukty." It kind of looks like he's being held down to be tortured, but I actually think it was nice that he was held rather than laying on the chair.

Jack did great, but we get a big ol' F as parents. He has two small cavities on his canine or incisor or whatever teeth. I blame it on the non-flourinated water in Florida. I'm sure it has nothing to do with his one-time chocolate addiction. I know, we suck. And now we get to go back to Kool Smiles in two weeks so Jack can have cavities filled. The thought makes me want to cry.

Ready for the batting cage

Heading out to the cage. I think we will go in the superfast (95mph)
cage today. The 80 mph was just too slow for him.

So This is What the Sun Looks Like

It's been so rainy and overcast lately and we've been stuck in our apartment for what seems like forever. Here are a few pictures of the last time it was sunny a couple weeks ago. The sun is finally back so hopefully we'll get outside and get some more fun pictures this weekend.

How ridiculou is this hair? He looks straight out of the movie Steel Magnolias. Luckily, it's his jump hair and it doesn't look like this all the time.

We Have a Cat...

And his name is Jack. Yes, our "titty tat" is a 2 year old boy who likes to crawl around the apartment, eat "titty tat 'nacks" from a bowl on his hands and knees and meow constantly.

Please don't confuse the tat with our Jack Frog that hops and ribbits around the apartment after bathtime in a frog towel.

It's all about imagination and pretend play these days. I find it hysterical. Kevin worries that our son might be mental. Here's Jack's reaction to his father's suggestion.
