Jack woke yesterday (Saturday) morning with a fever. The fever was down and up all day as his Tylenol was effective and then wore off, but it was as high as 103 under his arm. The poor guy was obviously not feeling well and was pulling at his ears so we suspected an ear infection. This afternoon, when Jack was acting so pathetic and lathargic that we'd had enough, we called the on-call doctor on base. He recommended we take Jack to the ER rather than waiting for him to be seen by his regular doctor on Monday.
The ER doctor checked Jack's ears and said they looked fine, but that his throat was very sore. He asked if Jack had been coughing (he hadn't) and listened to his chest. Based on what he heard, he sent us to get a chest X-ray. Poor Jack was a trooper when he was restrained in some crazy device to keep still for his X-ray.
Turns out it's a really good thing we went to the ER... Jack has pneumonia! Poor little guy. He started antibiotics tonight and will return to the doctor in a few days for a follow up. Elizabeth has her well baby 2 week appointment tomorrow so we'll make sure she's healthy and unaffected by her big brother's illness.
Here's how we spent much of the afternoon (before we knew Jack's diagnosis).

Paint 'n Place
The squadron playgroup took a field trip to Paint 'n Place to paint pottery this week. Jack loves to paint so we thought he'd really enjoy himself. And he did, for awhile. When he'd had enough he said "all done" over and over until we went to the awesome outdoor playground. He still takes his painting very seriously.Ellie was there, too.

Cupcake!
Jack has been following his sister's lead and eating like a champ the past few days. We have a few cupcakes left from a delicious batch Cortney brought when Elizabeth was born and Jack recently discovered their yumminess.
You think he liked his cupcake dessert?
Four of Us
Things are going well in the Lord house as we adjust to life with TWO kids. Jack is a very sweet big brother. He often asks where baby is and asks to see her, like he just needs to check up on her and see if she's still here. He says "bless you" when she sneezes. He likes to point out her nose and her eyes and thinks it's funny she has no teeth.
And here he is showing her his fun size bag of chocolate. He said, "Look, baby, chocit."Sweet Elizabeth Jane continues to be a good baby. She is sleeping and eating very well (as evidenced by her growing cheeks). She is a fairly gassy little thing, so she has many unlady-like moments throughout the day. She is pretty much the cutest thing ever. The family of four!
Here's Jack putting a sock on Elizabeth.

Special Time with Our Boy
Kevin and I took advantage of having Sasa around to watch Elizabeth and took Jack to the park for some solo play time. We had a blast.
Jack was very excited to see the holiday display.Riding the "dinoshure" with dada. You might be relieved to learn that we trimmed Jack's hair tonight. As cute as the long, crazy locks were I had to come to grips with the fact that the hair was a tad out of control. He still has curls and plenty of hair, but it's a little more manageable now.

Family Resemblance?
Jack is and always has clearly been a Lord baby. He has looked like his dada from day one. We're thinking Elizabeth might take after her mama and look like a Marsh. What do you think?

First Bath and Follow Up Doctor's Visit
A few pictures from Ellie's first "bath" at home.
We took sweet Elizabeth to the doctor today to be weighed and have a jaundice evaluation. She weighed 6 pounds 10.5 ounces! It's great that she's almost back to her birth weight and proves what a great eater she is. The nurse didn't even do a bilirubin check because she looked great and only slightly jaundiced.
Many Thanks
We just need to say another BIG thanks to the Walshes and the Youngs for taking care of Jack on Sunday while we went to the hospital. Kevin, Jen and baby Kevin Walsh hung out with Jack first thing in the morning. They also went above and beyond and picked up our house so we returned to a clean place. It was awesome.
Cortney and Jason Young played and had a great day with Jack. They kept him busy and having fun so he forgot he didn't feel well. Cortney sent along a few pictures so we could see what a great day Jack had on Sunday.
We are so lucky to have such great friends.
